A New Normal

So much has happened in 7 short days! One thing I have heard a lot is, “When will things get back to Normal?” I think I may have even said those words myself, then I heard it differently. “I don’t want things to go back to Normal, this Normal is not OK anymore!” Our families, our communities, our towns, our nation needs to change and do it now! We need a New Normal!

The death of George Floyd while in custody of the Minneapolis police sparked outrage and protests about racial injustice across the nation! There have also been many more conversations of the way African Americans are treated by the U.S. Justice system! We cannot continue to turn a blind eye to this, we cannot continue to say that it really doesn’t affect me so I’m not going to do anything, we cannot continue to allow this to happen!

In the words of Al Roker from the Today Show, “You don’t have to change a thousand people’s minds, you just have to reach out to one person, and that person reach out to somebody, and then we go down the line.”

It is a scary time and no one wants this! Together we can figure this out and how to stop it! Peaceful protests are good, looting and fires have to stop! Together we need to change how we use our words, our actions and our thoughts! Together we need to have more love, kindness, peace and understanding! Together we can do better!

“Love is the force capable of transforming an enemy into a friend”

Martin Luther King, Jr.
